What is an eSIM? An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital version of a SIM card built directly into your phone or device. It lets you activate cellular service (like data or calling plans) without inserting a physical SIM card, making it easy to switch carriers.
Does it work on every phone? Unless you have a physical SIM Card, yes - so long as the phone has not been Jailbroken or Rooted which means the phone’s operating system has not been modified or tampered with to bypass built-in security restrictions.
Install before travel: In some countries, you may not be able to activate or manage an eSIM once you’ve arrived (e.g. due to local restrictions).
Network coverage & speed: In rural areas, eSIM providers may fall back to a local 3G/2G network or may not have coverage at all.
Data limits / throttling: “Unlimited” plans often throttle speed after a certain threshold.
Keep your home SIM active (if dual SIM/eSIM) so you don’t lose access to your original number (for calls, 2FA- 2 Factor Authentication, etc.).
Security / privacy: Some eSIM traffic may route through unexpected networks — check reviews / policies of the provider.
